The invitation was flat printed on 100% cotton letterpress paper with the custom crest. The envelope was lined with gilded argyle paper (loved it!).  For an invitation printed like this, Chelsey says they would start at $2.25 per piece.  The argyle paper depends on the quantity you get and  the price adjusts based on the paper you choose for the lining.

Next, we wanted escort cards that looked like golf balls so we could attach them to wooden tees and set them out in wheat grass.  She came up with a golf ball “print” to watermark the paper and make it look like the dimples on a golf ball.  (It’s hard to see in the photo.) Then she selected the perfect fonts for the guest names and the table number.  Finally, she filed the wooden tee a bit to get a groove and glued the card in.  Since this is a little involved, she would probably charge $2 each.

When we first came up with this golf-type theme, we KNEW we had to have a golf flag for the table number.  We sketched out the flag with a triangle shape and an image of a peach on it.  Chelsey took it to another level with her sketch of a peach and the number abbreviation she added.  We fell in love with it, and yes, we kept the flag and have it in our office.  For a similar flag piece, Chelsea says these would be about $10 each.  So worth it!

The final stationery touches were the tags on the peach pies and the label on the peach tea.  The tags served as place cards and favor tags, attached to the peach pies at each of the place settings. Chelsea had the beautiful glass bottle for peach tea, so of course she created a label for it.  By re-using the crest and banners from the invitations, she kept the theme going.  The favor tags start at $1 each and the label for the peach tea would vary depending on size and quantity needed.

Other ways you could incorporate these elements would be to project your crest on the wall or dance floor during the reception, or perhaps use it as a graphic on the photo strips from a photo booth.  Have you thought about the impression your invitations will give?  Do you have any unique elements that you could carry through to escort cards, table numbers or favor tags?

A wedding DJ (disc jockey) has become so much more than the person who stands behind the speakers and plays music.  When choosing your DJ, keep in mind that this is your master of ceremonies.  This person will guide you and your guests through the wonderful reception you have planned, from introducing you and your new husband, to letting your guests know when the food is served, to entertaining them and keeping them on the dance floor into the late night.  Their skills behind the microphone and choosing music is truly a talent.

Think about it:  the DJ is the one wedding vendor who can literally drive your guests out of the building.  Yes, the food could be bad, but that just means everyone will be picking up another meal on the way home.  If your DJ is horrible, they can literally have your guests fleeing from the event and of course, it will definitely be the talk at the water cooler the next morning.  Consider this comment one of my clients left on Facebook when discussing the garter toss:  “I was at a wedding and the DJ does the screeching music stop and goes ‘Whoa, slow down buddy! She’s not gonna like that speed later tonight!’”.  Is that really what you want your guests to be talking about the next morning?

Consider more than the price when choosing the entertainment for your wedding.  Look for a personality, attitude and knowledge of music that matches the ambiance you want to create for your special day.  Think about what value you would place on the mood you want to create, then look at the investment cost the DJ is asking of you.  You will not regret your choice if you take all of these details account and balance them according to your needs.
